WORKING HEADLINE: There may NOT be a silver bullet, but there are some simple PR nuts & bolts.
BODY COPY: You may be looking for the “silver bullet” of marketing, but may be overlooking the “nuts & bolts”.
What is the perfect ad headline? The special give-away that hits everyone’s hot button? The “ethical bribe” on the website that entices email opt in?
If it were only that easy.
Marketing is rarely the perfect headline (“Where’s the beef?), the perfect give-away (Decoder ring with 3 box tops), or perfect ethical online bribe (Free white paper to WILL cure male pattern baldness).
The unglamorous truth is that successful marketing is an on-going and consistent process. You must surround your audience with compelling messages.
What does this look like as an action plan?
A well orchestrated marketing plan often includes -
- Website that is kept up to date, easy to navigate, includes a complete “news room” and emphasizes email opt in.
- Website that can easily be found in a general search.
- Brochure that puts your best foot forward and allows for the pass along factor.
- Two news releases per month about something of relevance to your audience.
- Direct mail campaign that reaches the SAME audience more than once.
- E-Newsletter, usually monthly, that provides useful tips and updates.
- Traditional Print Newsletter, usually quarterly, that outlines customer success rather than your company’s accomplishments.
- Business-to-Business telemarketing (if applicable to your business model) that opens dialogue and asks for the order.
Pay attention to the “nuts and bolts” of marketing and you may just find the “silver bullet”. |
